Biking

Stowe is a true cyclist’s paradise, with world-class mountain biking trails set against the backdrop of the Green Mountains. Known for its rugged terrain and scenic beauty, Stowe offers some of the best mountain biking experiences in the Northeast. Stowe boasts an extensive trail network of well-maintained, interconnected trails, suitable for all ability levels. With more than 50 miles of well-maintained single track, riders can explore a vast array of fun and challenging terrain while taking in the natural beauty of the area.
The majority of Stowe’s mountain bike trails are free and open for public use, supported by the efforts of the Stowe Trails Partnership (STP). As stewards of the trails, STP ensures trails are in top riding conditions. Be sure to check the most recent trail conditions before venturing out on the trails. There are several bike shops that offer rentals, accessories and tune-up services for those with their own bikes. Many hotels are bike-friendly, offering washing stations and lock-up storage for your equipment. Guided tours are available through 4 Points VT.

For those who prefer a more leisurely ride, road biking and the Stowe Recreation Path offer an equally captivating experience. The “rec path” is a paved, public path at an accessible grade, offering an easy ride perfect for families and those who want to enjoy the mountains at a slower pace. Stowe’s quiet country roads also provide peaceful routes for road riders to pedal through, offering tranquil views of the countryside, rolling hills, and charming Vermont farms.
Vermont is also known for its system of rail trails. These trails are all-season, multi-purpose recreation and transportation corridors that connect different parts of Vermont. At 93 miles long, the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail is the longest rail trail in New England and is easily accessible from Stowe. Rentals and tours are available through Lamoille Valley Bike Tours.
