Auto Toll Road

Journey to the top of Vermont on the historic Auto Toll Road at Stowe Mountain Resort. Since 1923, this scenic 4.5-mile route has brought visitors up the slopes of Mount Mansfield—Vermont’s highest peak—for sweeping views of Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks and the Green Mountains. As you drive the winding path toward the summit ridge, the landscape shifts with every turn, revealing the natural beauty that has drawn travelers here for generations.

Open seasonally from late May through mid-October (weather permitting), the Auto Toll Road allows you to experience the majesty of Mount Mansfield—right from your car. The entrance to the Toll Road is located off of Route 108, just beyond the cross-country center at Stowe Mountain Resort. The cost for the Toll Road is $37 per car, plus an additional $14 per passenger.

The drive itself is a 4.5-mile winding, gravel road that takes about 20 minutes to ascend Vermont's tallest peak. The scenic drive offers multiple spots to pull-off and explore the views. At 3,850 feet, you’ll be able to park at the top and explore on foot. With no food or dining facilities at the top, it is a great idea to pack a picnic to enjoy with some of the best views around.
