Essential Information
Live Updates from Stowe
Last updated: September 20, 2023 at 7 p.m. ET
As you may know, certain areas of Vermont experienced severe flood damage in early July. Stowe was not heavily impacted by the storm and is currently open and welcoming visitors.
We want to assure that your upcoming trip and experience in Stowe is as smooth as possible. Please consider the following when planning your trip:
- Stowe Hiking and Biking Trail conditions change regularly with the weather. Please check Trail Conditions before heading out (Green Mountain Club, Stowe MTB Trails, Trapp Family Lodge Trails).
- If trails are very muddy, please do not hike or bike on them.
- If trails are mostly dried out but have a few puddles, they can be used but hikers and bikers should go through the puddles instead of walking around as that can hurt the surrounding vegetation, widens the trail and causes more issues.
- Some trails, like Sterling Pond Trail for example, are much rockier than other trails that are mostly dirt. Rocky trails dry out quicker than dirt trails and are often able to be used much sooner after it rains.
- The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail is partially open, but the 21.1 miles from Wolcott and Walden will remain closed until further notice. The complete status of the LVRT can be found here.
