JuanCarlos González: Photographic Works at The Bryan Gallery
JuanCarlos González: Photographic Works
August 5 – September 27, 2026
The Bryan Gallery
64 S. Main St., Stowe, VT
The Bryan Gallery is honored to present a featured solo exhibition of work by acclaimed photographer and storyteller JuanCarlos González, a centerpiece of the gallery’s 2026 season.
Originally from Maunabo, Puerto Rico, González moved to Plymouth, Vermont in 2019, bringing with him a lifelong passion for visual storytelling shaped by the images of newspapers and magazines from his coastal hometown. Today, his photography bridges cultures and geographies, capturing narratives that celebrate resilience, connection, and the quiet dignity of everyday life.
A major focus of this exhibition includes selections from his celebrated documentary project Vermont Female Farmers, created in 2023. Developed during the pandemic, the series documents women working across Vermont’s agricultural landscape—many of them women of color—honoring their labor, identity, and deep relationship to the land. Set against the raw and shifting beauty of Vermont’s working fields, the series offers both portrait and place, amplifying voices often underrepresented in the region’s most visible industry.
The project has been widely exhibited across Vermont and beyond, including presentations at the Fleming Museum of Art, Billings Farm & Museum, the Henry Sheldon Museum, the Bennington Museum, Leica Gallery Boston, and the Vermont State House. The accompanying publication is held in the permanent collection of the Library of Congress.
González’s work has been featured internationally in Leica Fotografie International (LFI), Vogue Italia, The Boston Globe, National Geographic, Vermont State Parks, and more. In 2025, he was recognized as one of Leica’s Top 100 Photographers.
An opening reception will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 1-4 PM at the Stowe Gallery location. The reception is free and open to the public.
Gallery Hours: Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday 11 AM–4 PM | Friday & Saturday 11 AM–5 PM
