Vermont's annual, statewide Summer Free Fishing Day is Saturday, June 13!

Vermont’s Free Fishing Day gives both resident and nonresident anglers the opportunity to fish in Vermont for the day without a fishing license.

There are great fishing opportunities in Stowe and the surrounding area. Consider casting a line in the Little River, Lamoille River, Winooski River, or Waterbury Reservoir. Waterbury Reservoir is also home to Waterbury Center State Park which is having its Vermont Days Event on June 13–14, 2026. This annual weekend event celebrates the arrival of summer with free admission to day-use areas at Vermont State Parks and state-owned historic sites for both Vermonters and visitors.

Umiak Outdoor Outfitters’ rental outpost, located inside Waterbury Center State Park, offers daily kayak, canoe, and standup paddleboard rentals, providing an easy and enjoyable way to spend the day on the water and access great fishing spots by boat.
