Date
Cost
The Currently Speaking series hosts experts in various contemporary art genres and media to encourage casual discourse and meaningful interactions between our community, speakers, and the art they showcase. All series events are free to the public. No reservation is required, and the gallery will be open beforehand for viewing the current exhibition. Refreshments will be served.
Currently Speaking: The Arts as the Tools of Democracy will feature Susan Evans McClure, Executive Director of the Vermont Arts Council, and Christopher Wilson, Curator and Chair of the Division of Home and Community Life at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
They will explore how artistic participation has historically supported American democracy, and why public support for the arts and arts education remains essential to the health and future of civil society.
