A Journey of Place: Special exhibition, reception & sale of works by artist Andrew Orr

This year, the Bryan Gallery boldly stepped where we have not before. 
We launched a 5-year painting project with renowned landscape artist, Andrew Orr. 
“A Journey of Place” brings viewers on a visual trek through valleys, nature paths, shorelines and forests, off the beaten path, and largely unseen, except through the eyes of the artist. 
Andrew has hiked the state; a journey taken in paint, board and brush. 
And now, we celebrate!

Our hope for this collaboration was to convey one artist’s deep connection to the natural beauty of Vermont, drawing our community into his world through gorgeous views of the nooks and crannies of our state, captured so beautifully in oil on board. Andrew’s own story truly unfolds through his work. His finished paintings are lush and dreamy; realistic, but with a heightened sense of light and detail. This first collection of works includes scenes from Laraway Mountain in Belvidere, along with other secluded locations in Southern Vermont, Cambridge and Stowe.

The Year One Series will be on display in our Stowe Gallery from October 14 until the evening of our reception on November 7. Each original painting in the series will be available for sale. 
Andrew’s work is rigorously sought after, and lives in collections throughout the world. 
We anticipate that these new works will be highly anticipated and quickly claimed.

About the Artist:  Andrew Orr is a New Mexico native who found his way to back to Vermont. Although his ancestors settled here in the mid-1700s, his connection to the state began as a child, visiting family, summering on Lake Champlain, wandering in the woods, and eating locally grown food. Eventually he made Vermont his home, living in several locations around the state before settling in Richford. There, he paints, teaches, keeps a garden and cooks.
