The Bryan Gallery is pleased to present Bending Light, a solo exhibition of new work by artist David Utiger. This exhibition marks David’s first solo presentation with the Stowe Fine Art Gallery and his debut as part of the Bryan Gallery family.
David creates imagined landscapes inspired by memory, atmosphere, and the shifting light of Vermont and northern New England. Born and raised in the Midwest, he spent much of his youth on his family’s Vermont homestead, where he developed a lasting fascination with the region’s mountains, lakes, rivers, and uniquely luminous light, so different from his native Missouri.
Beginning each composition with delicate line work, David layers watercolor and acrylic before finishing each piece with richly textured colored inks applied by quill pen. The result is a body of work that glows with a dreamlike blend of surrealism and impressionism, inviting viewers into landscapes that feel both familiar and imagined.
We invite you to experience this striking new collection and discover the evocative world David has created.
A public reception will be held on Saturday, June 6 from 1–4 PM and meet the artist.
This exhibition is free and open to the public.
