About the Books:
Where Dark Things Rise: Two generations after the events in Where Dark Things Grow, evil still lurks in the corners of Appalachia. As if being a teenager isn't hard enough in the 1980s, Mina struggles with family, friends, and school while harnessing secret powers that will change everything she knows.
Where Dark Things Grow: In the midst of the Great Depression, fifteen-year-old Leo grapples with family turmoil and madness, while discovering an enchanted wulver from ancient folklore. Seeking revenge, Leo unleashes forces beyond his control, leading to a harrowing journey with his spitfire friend Lilyfax. As they search for Leo's missing father they become embroiled in a plot to rescue trafficked women. Any hope of saving the women requires confronting dark forces lurking in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. "Where Dark Things Grow" blends horror, folklore, and magical realism in a gripping 1930s bildungsroman. Where Dark Things Grow was a finalist of the Manly Wade Wellman Award, shortlisted for the Sir Walter Raleigh Fiction Award, and winner of an IPPY by the Independent Book Publishers Award.
